OnePlus may be switching its phones to run OPPO’s ColorOS

It's very disappointing news for OnePlus users, till now OnePlus phones run on either Hydrogenos (China) or Oxygen OS (Global/Rest of the world), While OxygenOS is very much alive and running, it seems that HydrogenOS is on its way out, as OnePlus smartphones sold in China could seemingly make the switch to OPPO’s ColorOS soon.

A fresh leak coming from XDA's senior member reveals that an announcement has been made in OnePlus's QQ group.

The announcement reveals that the HydrogenOS is on its way out, as OnePlus smartphones sold in China could seemingly make the switch to OPPO’s ColorOS soon.

And while this decision may have caught users by surprise, both the companies have always been connected closely while shying away from publicly accepting it. Most of the OnePlus devices have been rehashed with Oppo phones and even the upcoming OnePlus Watch is reportedly a rebranded Oppo ssmartwatch

OnePlus has, however, stated that the global devices will continue to run on OxygenOS and this move will not impact them. But for how long, only time can tell.
